proposal

Proposal of game design (400 words)

My Proposal for my Harry potter game cover, firstly for my game cover I’m going to make the size of the box 42cm x 29.7cm and make it an A3 after that I’m going to make the sides black so it looks dark and has the Harry Potter theme to darkness and mystery to it. I’m thinking of adding two images I took which was from the Harry Potter Studios tour as the middle image because I believe it will be eye-catching for example putting a castle and something next to it. But it will look a little odd with a line in the middle of where the two images meet so I’m going to add something in the middle of it, either a lightning bolt or a magic wand, this will make it look more professional and hide the line which will be in the middle of the page/board game.

For the title of the game I’m going to a get the original Harry Potter logo in the color grey or dark blue and I’m going to add effects such as bevel and emboss and outer glow so it is standing out and fits the Harry Potter theme. For the subtitle I’m going to go on the web and find a website which has a Harry Potter font so my subtitle will be in the same font as my title for my subtitle I’m thinking of naming it ‘’And the deathly creatures’’ or ‘’ And the Philosopher animals’’ for the subtitle I will add a glow effect and a stroke effect so there is a black border around it this is to make it easier to read to the viewers. I will probably add other effects on to it as well to make it look professional.

When adding the animals I will have to remove their background by using the magic wand tool, after that I will resize the images to fit in the middle of the board game in front of the castle and train I will be putting all 3 animals in the middle of the board game not any on the sides because I believe when it’s in the middle its standing out and that’s where the viewer’s main focus will be when looking at the board game. I will put them fairly far away from each other so they have room probably 3 or 2 cm away from each other.

Evaluation

                                                         Evaluation (621 words)

In this assignment we was given a task and the task was to create a Harry Potter board game, and we had to use our own images firstly we researched different type of shots in the Harry Potter film series and analysis them by seeing what emotion is on the characters faces and how it comes across to the viewers. This is an important task because I wanted to make my board game eye-catching to viewers. We then had to analysis key shots in the film for example, when the bridge is burned and it is an extreme wide-shot, this was also helpful when taking our images to see what type of camera shot was suitable.

When creating this board game. We first went to the Warner Bro’s Studios Harry Potter tour, this was to get ideas and to get plenty of photographs of the tour such as creatures, castles nearly everything that was standing out to us. I mainly focused on the castles and trains because I wanted to add them on my board game design because I believe they will look good on my box. Then I created a contact sheet of the images that was best and that I was going to use on my final game design. After going to the Harry Potter tour, We went To Stone-bridge farm where there was many animals , we had to take an image of all the animals that was there roughly around 30-40 images per person I mainly focused on animals which I believe would look good when morphed so the animals I focused on was ducks, chickens, cows, horses, sheep. We then created a contact sheet of all the animals we took an image of so it was easier to view, then we had to write about the images on the contact sheet for example, what ISO the image was taken in or what FPS it was taken in.

Furthermore we had to choose 6 of the best images and edit them so they look more professional on Photoshop for example I made the images sharper and clearer, also I made their fur smoother so it looks authentic. Furthermore we had to morph two of the animal images we took together from the 6 of the best images to 3 morphed images in final but it still had to look a little real. My final morphed images was a chickens head on a duck body and a horse’s head on a pig’s body and finally a cows head on a turkey’s body. They looked like a completely out of this world creature like something out of harry potter, (which means I accomplished the given task)

After I created the morphed images I then started to create my board game on A3 in Photoshop the size for the box had to be 42cm x 29.7cm. firstly I added two images from the Harry Potter Studios to create the background and I made the sides color black after I added a wand in the middle to give it some effect furthermore I added ‘’Harry Potter ’’ as the title and a ‘’ and the deathly creatures board game’ subtitle underneath it. I edited the text and background to make it look more professional and added my 3 morphed final images together.

I wouldn't change anything next time .from this task I have learned how to edit raw files (RW2) efficiently an example is adding a different color effect, this is what I done to my horse on a pigs body I added a purple tone effect to it, Furthermore I believe my final image meets the assignment brief to my original proposal, I done everything that was on my proposal.

Board game

Board game (editing)

When creating this board game design I firstly created the box size which is A3 and 42cm x 20.7cm then I added images from my camera, onto Photoshop and made the background black , After that I re-sized them so I can fit two in the middle, and there was a black line in the middle of the page so I added a Harry Potter wand to get rid of the black line after that the wand started sticking out to the sides and to prevent that from happening I used the selection tool and filled in the sides as you can see in ''Layer 2''When adding the title i went on the web and got an original Harry potter title and I added effects to it such as bevel and emboss, stroke to give it a border and an outer glow to make it stand out.

After that I went on the web again to a font website which They changed the font to a Harry Potter font and i added the subtitle '' and the deathly creatures'' I added effects onto it such as bevel and emboss, stroke, color overlay so its the same color as the title, and outer glow so its eye catching and drop shadow. After that I added all the animals onto the middle of my board design.

Contact sheet harry potter

This contact sheet is towards the images I'm going to use for my Harry potter game background/front, the first image is a little out of focus therefore I'm not going to use that one, the second image is in focus and is sharp but there are many people in the way therefore I'm not going to use that one, the third image is a nice clean, clear shot of the shop but the angle it is taken in isn't a good angle for my game cover, I wont be using that image either, The rest of the images are suitable for my criteria because they are in focus, look sharp and are in a good angle, furthermore the lighting is good, not too dark not too bright. So for my board game I will be looking at choosing a few out of all of them except 1, 2 and 3

morphed images

When editing this image I first cropped out the head of the horse using the pen tool and then I placed it over the pigs head , after that I cut around the horses head so the rest of the pigs head that was sticking out got removed. I then used the color blending options on layer effects. That's how I got the horses head a similar color to the pigs body, I did this so it looks more realistic. Furthermore I blended the horses head by using the erase tool and changing the opacity and flow lower and using it around the neck of the horse

For this image I firstly cropped the head of the chicken and the placed it around the ducks head, I then used the eraser tool to remove the ducks head that was sticking out and after I used the warp tool to get a good position of the chickens head onto the body,  after that I used the erase tool again but I chose the smooth eraser and turned the opacity and flow both down to 30% I used this tool on the neck of the chicken I cropped out so it blended into the duck so it looks more professional.

For this Image I cropped the head of the cow and then I cropped the body of the turkey using the pen tool, I went around them smoothly, after that I flipped the body of the turkey so it was facing the other way (the way the cow was faced) after that i placed the cropped head of the cow onto the body of the turkey and by using the erase tool I blended the head onto the body by making the opacity 30% and the flow 30% I did this to all of the images because it is a good way of blending things together.
